I know you shouldn’t compare the great tragedy of many years ago to modern online marketing, but there are several similarities between the two.
One similarity, is that the Titanic was marketed to the public as being “unsinkable”. It wasn’t. Such mis-marketing of products still exists today.
Back then, the seemingly “unsinkable” ship Titanic hit an iceberg and sunk. Several people were blamed, after the great ship sunk, including the Captain, E. J Smith.
However as with all things Internet Marketing, not all things are as they seem and whoever or whatever was truly at fault on that fateful night, several lessons have been learned to make today’s modern ships, far more safe.
We know also that increased safety measures, AFTER the event will never bring back all of those people who lost their lives that night. SO how can you as an online marketer, NOT become a fatal statistic and prevent yourself from hitting an online Iceberg?
Well, one of the things the Captain of the Titanic was accused of was going too fast in unpredictable conditions. It was cold and foggy out there in the grey cold sea, it was dark and conditions were bad.
However, the Titanic was under pressure to reach America in a given number of days so the Captain maintained high speed even though his officers advised him to slow down.
Is this you?. Are you going “at it” hammer and tongs, full speed ahead without really paying attention to detail, are you without a proper map and do you carry on regardless. Like all things, you need a proper course (or plan).
You need to know what you are doing, what effect both on you and of course, your pocket is your current course having?. But most of all – Is what you are currently doing actually making inroads to your online success?
It’s easy to get things wrong, usually we get things wrong just before we get things right. We tend to learn from our mistakes and not do them again, however no amount of mistakes will ever become “right” if you are sailing on the wrong course.
If Titanic 2 were to have set sail after the Titanic’s fatal voyage, it’s 16 watertight compartments would now have been built to reach the higher parts of the ship, thus reducing the luxury cabin space, the ship would now have sufficient lifeboats for the number of passengers, ship radios would be manned 24hrs a day & speed would be reduced in ice or fog.
Many people give up on online marketing because what they are doing isn’t working. The trick is not to give up, but to find another course of action that works and that is right for you.
It’s NOT that online marketing doesn’t work, thousands make it work but MILLIONS don’t. This is reality. If you want to change your reality you need to do what people who make money online DO. Model THEM.
Instead of “giving up”, change course and avoid the inevitable icebergs we face every day. Instead of building your own Titanic, build a better business
by looking at the people who make it work. What are they doing to build a successful business, and make a better life for themselves and their families?
Sadly, the Titanic slipped beneath the surface on the Icy Atlantic at approximately 2.20 AM on the morning of April the 15th 1912. Of the 2,223 passengers on board, 1,517 people lost their lives.
